BOOKS in Italian have limited appeal in the UK, but this is a quite amazing collection of cars. The Sport and its Craftsmen from 1937 to 1965, is basically an A-to-Z of all the sports-racers that were made and competed in the Italian Championships in the smaller classes (750cc, 11 00cc, 1500cc). There are nearly 500 black and white photographs and 356 pages in this well-produced book from locations such as the Mille Miglia, Targa Florio, Giro de Sicilia and Circuito del Mugello. With names like Ermini, Giannini, Moretti and Nardi being vaguely familiar there are 84 different manufacturers listed. A yearly breakdown of the major races these cars contested is followed by the detailed A-Z index and a photographic record of the majority of class winners in each major race.
